Their wood-fired pizzas are really tasty; they have a good beer menu as well which is perfect to go with the pizzas. I used to be a fan of their pizza at the Faccia Luna in Alexandria, VA and the one in State College is just as good.

This place has the best pizza in State College, and it's not close. If you like pizza and are a fan of delicious flavor, dine here.

Best pizza in State College! Parking is sometimes a pain, as are the crowds, but I just park around the corned and don't end up waiting in line for more than ~5 min. It's a great place! If you're living in State College or just passing through, they will not disappoint. This was the first restaurant I ate at when I moved here and keep coming back.

Having regularly visited State College for more than a decade, a Penn State alum finally introduced me to this place. (Naturally enough, he was a former PSU and NFL linebacker.) Simply put, the wood fired pizza is the best in town. It'd be 4 stars for the food. On the other hand, parking can be a real challenge. We've often parked next door at dinner time. Plus, the bathrooms are downstairs are a bit funky; they're better suited to the bar in back, than the restaurant in front. The deck in back is ok, if the weather is nice.

Solid good slice of pizza that you'd expect from somewhere else. This place is truly a gem of State College. Say yes to Faccia Luna!

We last came on a busy Saturday night. Parking can be scarce but, in the evenings, you can park at the office supply next door. We parked across the street at Citizens Bank. We were promptly seated and the waitress brought complimentary water to our table. The menu is good. There's a good selection of Italian food and a fresh seafood menu. The seafood is brought in fresh from the city every week ( DC or NYC?) I've only had pizza here. It's good. Like, really good. I forgot what variety of pizza we had the last time we were here but it had sun dried tomatoes on it. Another time we ordered pepperoni and sausage. The other time I had pizza here it was to-go and it had a bunch of veggies on it. All three times the pizza was excellent. I'd like to try more things on the menu but it's really hard to pass up good pizza.

This was some seriously good pizza. There is nothing more fun than eating some delicious brick oven pizza and having that thin layer of soot on your fingers afterward to know it was authentic. I didn't eat in the restaurant, I just grabbed a drink with a friend while we waited for our 2 pies. It was an adequate place, but the bar is small. There was a nice selection of beer on tap and an even better selection of 6-packs to go!!! (ya!!!). The pizza however, is fantastic, so nice and thing, and lovely. The cheese is melted on perfectly and the sauce is done so very well. I had a plain cheese and one with some veggies on it. Both were fantastic. Baked so well in the awesome brick ovens and full of flavor. I don't do gourmet pizza often, but this how to count as such. Good pizza, can't wait to try some again.

Faccia Luna used to be ok but my last few experiences have been average at best either for eat in or take out. I doubt that I will go back. Salads, not good ingredients, pizza, soggy with hardly any crust in the middle and burnt crust on the edges. Staff has issues too. You decide.

Cheap pizza Got the margherita pizza - good crust, not enough basil, too much cheese Ceasar salad sucked. It's ok. I think we would have to have a much better pizza next time to return.

Wood fired pizza here is to die for!! My favorite is the ''Faccia Luna'' or the "Margarita" pizza. There are different sizes and are great if you are dining with friends, because you can share. They have pasta and sandwich options as well. Fri-Sunday they offer more a specialized seafood menu. All desserts I'm told are homemade. My pick is the key lime pie. It's fantastic! They don't take reservations so expect to wait, especially on weekends. There is a full bar to the right side where you can wait for your table. Average entree price is about $15.

over-rated place had a pizza for takeout and it wasn't anything special. State College is not a pizza town.

Every time is go there, their parm chicken is not the best. The pasta tastes quite bland.

They have a really nice beer selection on tap, well maybe not REALLY nice but definitely above average. Parking is horrible and the place is a little small so I would not recommend going on a weekend but if you are there during the week definitely worth a stop. The pizza selections were interesting and tasty and the service was pretty good. Prices are ok. All in all one of the best "Pizza" places to go to in State College if you are looking for a sit-down place.

Faccia Luna was delicious! First time we tried it, we got a veggie pizza + a large salad + a beer. The server didn't know the price of the beer off hand and quoted us a price that was actually $2 under what it ended up being, which was a little annoying. We weren't fans of the caesar salad, & the breadsticks we got the next time were not good (would not recommend at all if you're looking for typical breadsticks). But the pizza. mmmm delicious. We decided that the extra toppings weren't really worth the extra cost and so we've just been getting plain cheese & picking it up lately. They're usually a bit slower than their quoted time, so I would give an extra 5-10 mins before going. DELICIOUS!!!! simple but it really hits the spot. The underside is a bit burnt sometimes because of the stove, but overall, the pizza alone was good enough to get them 4 stars! p.s parking sucked unless midday

Slammin brick oven pizza; pesto done right. Outside back porch is nice, weather permitting. Parking sucks.

I hurt my knee a night before from martial art so I decided to order some food and stay in. I looked at the menu online and the web site is very well organized and seems high class, but it locates next to a motel... Anyway, I called and no one picked up the first time. I waited a few mins and called again and someone answered. I placed my order and said it will be ready in 30 mins. I showed up 30 mins later to find this is more of a neighborhood place, which is totally fine but the website does not match the restaurant. However, the hostess was pretty rude and bitchy, not sure what was wrong with her. I ate the food at the hotel and let me tell you, the meatball sub is OUT OF THIS WORLD! The sour dough bread is AWESOME and the meatballs are homemade. The red sauce was perfect with the right amount of cheese. The Pizza was OK, it was thin crust and just OK. All and all, I will come back again but probably will not get the pizza again.

FANTASTIC PIZZA. I recommend that anyone should try it. Pros: Delicious, well-served pizza clean relaxing atmosphere Polite waitresses/waiters Cons: The service is slow, perhaps because we were going at an odd time and it's summer time. (11a.m. and there's not too many people in town during the summer) There's no nutritional information provided, so it's hard for people counting calories or watching what they're eating for health reasons.

Quality. Variety. Consistency. Three words that immediately pop up when thinking about this place. I have gone several times (like, every time family comes to visit me, I go here), and have yet to have a bad meal. And my guests can say the same! Typically I'll order either a pasta dish (made with in-house fresh made pasta, and accompanied with a salad and garlic bread) or one of their pizzas. Everything comes out hot and fresh, and timely. Its a cozy atmosphere, and the servers are very friendly. Sometimes there is a wait, but its not too bad with some waiting seating, and sports being televised near the bar section of the restaurant (which is nicely out of view when you are dining). Definitely recommend to anybody visiting the area --yum!

This was my first Yelp review ever...because I just couldn't help but gush to strangers on the internet about my favorite place to eat in my hometown. Over 100 reviews, a move to a real city, and many, many delicious meals later, Faccia Luna still holds a very special place in my heart. While it may not be the best food I have ever eaten, at one point it was. I grew up going to Mario & Luigi's for every birthday meal, because as an Italian kid, all I wanted was caprese salad, fried calamari, and something smothered in alfredo sauce. Sometime in my early high school years, my parents finally convinced me to try Faccia Luna, and I wondered why I had ever obsessed over that other Italian place in town. I tried Alto and Rotelli when each of them opened, but Faccia Luna still reigned supreme. Not just in State College though--this is good food for anywhere. While their pizza is easily the best in town, I still have to stress that their homemade pastas are some of the best I have ever eaten. I am constantly craving their squiggly strings of chewy spinach linguine covered in a vodka sauce with the perfect balance of tomato and cream and just a little kick of spice. All of the pastas and sauces are great, but this is my absolute favorite combination. Living in Pittsburgh now, we have tons of amazing Italian restaurants, many of which are true to authentic Italian cuisine. Yet, I still haven't found anywhere that does pasta like Faccia Luna. I rarely make it home to Happy Valley these days, but every time I do I make a point to come to Faccia Luna, and I will continue to do so as long as it is in existence.

I love this restaurant! It has great food! I love the steak with mushroom sauce. The pizza and pasta are also delicious. It's not too expensive. Overall, it is a great restaurant in State College.

Definitely a nice upscale pizzeria. The tomato bruschetta was very fresh and tasty. I had the calzone, which was rich but not too rich; it had flavorful mozzarella, slightly sharp provolone, a decent pizza sauce, and did I mention the ricotta was rich? I added pepperoni and sausage which were a little spicy and not greasy and it was more than enough to take home and reheat as a midnight snack.

Matt O.
The overall consistency in food warranted another update. Faccia Luna has been spot on with every meal I've had from there since July '11. The best gourmet pizza in State College, and all the other food is terrific as well. If you could visit only one restaurant in State College I would comfortably recommend Faccia Luna as the best.

The best pizza in State College!! We always order a roma pizza done bianco, swap out sun dried tomatoes for fresh and add sausage. So good!! We have never had a bad meal here, sit in or take out! Other highlights are the amazing tomato bruschetta with fresh mozzarella, the house salad dressing and the rich homemade fettuccine alfredo with mushrooms! Amazing food here!

As and undergrad, if Yelp existed, I would gladly have given it a 5-star rating as I have nothing but the most amazing memories from when I had the opportunity to eat here.Returning after a 10 year hiatus, I still enjoyed my experience doing what my friend Mike would preface as "Let's do the Luna" Great pizza with great beer selection. Was a little disappointed with one of our pizza selections which featured ricotta. The pizza had way too much toppings that in-turn made it too soggy. The other pizza we got (pepperoni, sausage and onions) was great with the perfect blend of crispy and chewy. Ate way too much but that was ok as we were hoofing the whole day dragging my poor wife to all my old collegiate haunts. It is a really busy place, especially on a home-game weekend when we were there. The staff seemed stressed and the customers were packing it in. Despite the crowd, they seemed well prepared to deal with the masses. Really impressed with the dough tosser who seemed unfazed and determined to stretch the gluten-laden dough balls to their max capacity. Basically, while not the most amazing pizzas I have ever eaten, in a wealth of mediocrity that State College has to offer, this is one of the best places to feast!

I've been here twice and both times it was pretty solid. I went there a third time but there was a long wait so we went somewhere else (it was like saturday night of some big weekend i forget). Its more expensive than your average pizza place but def more upscale. Overall I like it

Had garlic basil spaghetti with vodka sauce & meatballs. Excellent! Dijon Vinaigrette salad dressing is great too. I also like the meatball grinder and the Chicken Pesto Pizza. A little pricey but the quality is good.

I am a State College native and this is my favorite pizza place in town (lucky for me it was within walking distance from my parents' house). The pizza is wood fired, giving it a slightly crisper crust than some may like. For me, it's the only way to go. They don't take reservations, but the other night the boyfriend and I were able to grab a table in the bar, which was a perfectly pleasant place to sit and eat. The prices are reasonable, the food is good and the staff is friendly. I have ordered one or two things I haven't liked, typically pasta dishes, but almost everything I've had has been good. They have excellent pizza, calzones and sandwiches. They usually have some sort of seafood special on the weekend, which I've been told is very good. Faccia Luna is one of my absolute favorites and is a definite must-try restaurant. One pretty serious complaint - the parking lot is a nightmare and it's always full. They even have a sign on the door requesting that patrons carpool if possible.

Faccia Luna has the most delicious pizza that I have had outside of Italy. The crust is perfect, the toppings are fresh and well chosen, and the beer selection is above average. They definitely get crowded, but if you can get a booth the atmosphere is cosy and enjoyable.

Great pizza, sandwiches and dinners. Parking can be a bit crazy but you half to get there early. If you are visiting the State College Area Faccia Luna is a must!

Really good not too greasy pizza with delicious toppings. Probably the best pizza in State College... and there are a lot of pizza places in this college town. The pastas are pretty good too... homemade. They seem to cook their pasta al dente so if you are like me, you may want to ask them to cook the pasta for an extra minute or so.. sorry al dente pasta eaters out there. Friendly efficient service. This place doesn't have much curb appeal located next to a motel, but the inside has a nice ambiance. Recommend: facia luna pizza, gianetto pizza (on the salty side, maybe because of the double meat topping but ooh soo good), chicken parm, linguine with clam sauce, angel hair with marinara sauce,...
(4)
Ian L.
The wait was a little long, but all the pizzas looked delicious. Plus if you are seated near the pizza oven, you can watch them throw the pizza dough. Make sure you go early, it tends to get crowded and there isn't much seating. Also, the parking lot is kinda small, so I usually park across the street in the bank lot. You have to cross 4-lanes of traffic, but hey, live a little.

I love this place! :)) I have gone 3 different times and was satisfied every time. The pizza is awesome and the penne vodka is great but not as heavy as I am used to. Pasta dishes are a good size and come with a piece of fresh garlic bread and salad. You can pick what kind of noodle you want too! The eggplant parm was good but not my favorite. The restaurant itself is cute, cozy, and not fancy. You don't have to get decked out for a delicious, authentic tasting dinner!

Excellent pizza! The best in State College, as others have said. The wood ovens make that crust so damn delicious. The rest of the ingredients are dynamite. We asked for a side of pizza sauce, and the sauce was so thick and hearty, like a stew. That's good eatin'! Good service and cool photography of Italy on the walls. Better than average beer selection too. The prices are a bit higher than a typical pie house, but it's worth it if you like quality food. Treat yourself to something great for once. Highly recommended!

Wood fired brick oven pizza is absolutely delicious! You can see the pizza chefs through dough and make the pizzas. Had the fresh crab cake with spinach pasta and the "meat lovers" equivalent pizza. Both outstanding!!!. Our waiter told us that the crab is driven to the restaurant every Thursday. Even after the Blue and White game, still managed to get a seat right away. Beer selection is great too! Would love to come back if ever in the area.

When I have friends over to visit, Faccia Luna is the first place that comes to mind when it's time to go out to dinner. The staff are friendly, and the food is great!

Great food all around but their wood-fired pizza is second to none in State College. Only trouble sometimes is finding a parking spot on a busy night.

Maybe I should have given them 5 stars. This is probably as good as it gets for Italian in State College. I've been there many times over the years, as it's close to my parents' house. But now that it's just Dad, and his digestive system ain't what it used to be, not many trips there, and I miss it. The pizza is great -- I've never been disappointed with a pie ordered, and I think I've tried a lot of them, with a special fondness for the delicious sausage. The pastas are also great, and the beer selection is good too. Parking is a nightmare. With elderly parents it's easy to get there before the rush, but it's usually all parked up, and back a couple years we were reduced to parking a at Nittany Office Supply. At least it was after they had closed. My kids and nephews love this place too.
(4)
Derek M.
Great pizza, some of the best in the area. Their lunch special is great - $6 for two slices of pizza (selection varies) with soup or a salad. Go early - parking is limited, and after noon it's full. Their dinner selections are great. They have good appetizers, pastas, good soups, etc. Lots of vegetarian options. Good beer selection.

My boyfriend and I had been dying to eat here basically since I moved to State College, yet time and time again we'd forget until we were eating somewhere else. I can honestly say, there was nothing about the experience that wasn't outstanding. I mean, if I had to pick anything, I can say I've had better iced tea (but I am a southerner!). The pizza and the bruschetta were both incredible, the ingredients all tasted so fresh! The pizza crust was PERFECT. I also found the prices of everything to be extremely reasonable. We will definitely be returning here in the future!

Faccia Luna does make a good pizza...but i'll tell you something you didn't know... Cayon, yes Canyon that everyone eats when they are intoxicated, and says that's the only way they'd every be able to tolerate it, has the same crust recipe as Faccia Luna. Don't believe me? Go to Canyon and buy a crust for $1. Make four small pizza's at home and you will see!

Megan K.
I really enjoy this place, their style of pizza is a little more stylish than what you would expect in a college town! They also have salad and pasta, also yummy. The place is a little small and their parking lot is tiny but at night expands into the business next door. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great dinner that is more than just greasy pizza.
(4)
Jen M.
This place is nice. If you like brick oven pizza, this is definitely the spot to go. Not so much atmosphere. Large menu - I decided to get the chicken parm, which was average, but for $13.95... it was no worth that. They gave me a nice piece of chicken, barely any sauce, and about an entire box worth of angel hair as well as 2 chunks of garlic bread. They accomodated a large group (9) very easily with friendly service. If I go back, I would not get anything but the pizza. Very large alcohol selection as well. A nice place for a casual dinner.

I visit once a week... when I don't I start going through withdraw... it's sad but the food is great. The vodka sauce is always perfect! NOTE: Don't be afraid to try out the special!! I did the other day and was pleasantly surprised!

Even though everyone has raved about the pizza at this place, my first visit included me trying the Chicken Parm. It was OK. The bed of pasta that the chicken was sitting on seemed very bland. The sauce that they add just doesn't have much of a taste to it. At $13, it is nothing special. Most of the other people I was with all tried the pizza. They all seemed to enjoy it. So, this rating may get a bump up after my next visit. If you go, get the pizza.

Derek M.
We were pleasantly surprised. The wait was brief, and the waitstaff was quick and helpful. (It didn't feel like they were too busy to keep up.) We ordered the bruschetta (fresh mozzarella, good balsamic, tasty garlic), which we liked. We then ordered a chicken pizza, which was very good. It wasn't outlandishly great pizza, but it was certainly above-average and tasted fresher than most pizzas. Also, a slight downside was the real lack of chicken on this "chicken" pizza, but at least it tasted good. We'll certainly visit again. UPDATE: After another visit, concur on the bruschetta and the pizza once again. We also had the dessert--the tiramisu wasn't bad but not that great, but I really enjoyed the cannoli and would order it again. SECOND UPDATE: Having tried a number of the dining options in State College, I'm bumping my review to five stars.

Really good restaurant! I ordered the mushroom ravioli with vodka sauce which was excellent. The key lime pie and chocolate mousse pie were also delicious. Casual atmosphere and good service. We will come again!

Fantastic pizza at Faccia Luna. Everytime we visit Penn St, we stop at Faccia Luna for a dinner, or lunch, if that works better. The pizza is really really good. Also a fun place, with good drink selection. We always get pizza, but my son gets a pasta dish since he's not a pizza fan.

My wife and I had dinner at Facci Luna on Friday evening. We had heard about it from friends and we certainly weren't disappointed. My wife had crab cakes served over pasta and raved about the quality. I ordered jumbo sea scallops served over pasta in a wonderful, but unusual, marinara sauce. Outstanding all way around! We'll definitely return, perhaps next time to try the gourmet pizzas.

Great Italian food! First time there and it won't be the last! Parking is scarce, but worth it to wait. Had Mussels Mariner as an appetizer and it was really good and fresh. Got the Mushroom Ravioli but with vodka sauce and it was amazing - you could tell it was fresh and homemade.
(5)

YUM. Best pizza in State College. The salads are delicious too, especially the Caesar! The wine list is nothing impressive, but they do have some good beers. Sometimes there can be a long wait here - I have waited for an hour at most, BUT It is definitely worth the wait. Great service, too.

I'm a bit ashamed to say that I never visited Faccia Luna the entire 4 years I went to Penn State so I wasn't about to pass up the chance when my husband and I were back in town for a wedding this summer. Since it was July, we didn't have to wait long at all (only about 15 mins) and it was worth the wait. We had several appetizers include delicious pesto bread which is definitely unique to Faccia Luna. After reading reviews on Yelp, we also had to try the brushetta with fresh mozzarella and the baked mozzarella fingers. Both were yum yum! For our entrees, I had the cheese Ravioli with Vodka sauce was absolutely amazing. The sauce had chunks of tomato in it - might just be the best I've had. However the reason I'm giving a 4* is because we definetly did not like the pizza. We've had brickoven pizza elsewhere that was far better and this was a bit disappointing. We tried the pepperoni and something a bit more unique the Genovese but we didn't like either. I'd definitely come back but not for the pizza.
(4)
Brian B.
Tried the Giannetto pizza pie over the summer and it's everything that I expected. Extremely well made with none left over at the end. The actual meals are above average compared to what you'd expect downtown. For a few extra bucks and a slightly longer hike, you can get yourself a pretty good meal. Despite the slightly higher price, it's worth every cent.
(4)
Sarah H.
Best pizza in State College... you can't go wrong with the Genovese - pesto and red potato. I was surprised by the potato but it gives a great crunch. The crust is by far the best crust you can get in town.
(4)
Howard H.
After spending an entire morning helping a friend move boxes and furniture into his new apartment, we stopped here for lunch. I haven't had all the pizzerias in State College, but this one has got to be one of the better ones (with a decent beer selection to boot). The wait is usually pretty long, but since school hadn't started yet, there wasn't a wait at all. Ordered the original Faccia Luna pizza, as well as another with a ton of sausage. Both were delicious. Everything is reasonably priced, but beers can add up on the bill. Sure, there's a Pizza Hut just two blocks up. But Faccia Luna isn't that much more expensive, and the pizzas are a lot better.
(4)
JoJo R.
Great food but the service kills it for me! Like most of state college, the servers at Faccia are college kids who don't want to be there. The staff here constantly looks overwhelmed when it is busy. I don't want to see the staff arguing when i am waiting for a table. I have had so many bad experiences there, but here are a few. Was hit in the head with a pizza tray as the server cleared our table. Had to ask for silverware 3 times while my food sat in front of me getting cold. Was served bad mussels and when i showed the server she said "I can get you another another order but they will be the same" Asked the server what was on the dessert specials board. His reply was "I have no idea what they wrote on that." Overall food is usually great.

I'm tempted to tell you that this place is terrible in hopes that it will be easier to get a seat next time I go, but it is hands down the best restaurant in State College, which has lots of good restaurants compared to the rest of Pennsylvania. The menu is the exact right size, with wood fired pizza, homemade pasta, sandwiches and seafood brought in fresh and only available on the weekends. In about 10 visits everything I have ever ordered has been great, especially the seafood... and the pizza.... and the homemade pasta... Well you get the idea. There is a good beer selection, not a lot of wines to chose from but my wife seems happy with the wines that are offered. The food is inexpensive, many of the nice restaurants in town charge at least ten dollars more for similar dishes of lower to equal quality. Make sure to ask the waitress which pastas are made in house. Some of them are not, and you are missing out if you do not have the homemade pasta. Also, don't undervalue the pizza. I never ordered it because I don't think of pizza when I go out to a nice restaurant but they were out of seafood one night so we got a pizza and it was amazing. I have had it a couple times since. This brings up another point though which is that they bring in a certain amount of seafood every Friday so it does run out. If you want your pick off the menu don't go in late on Saturday night because they may be out of what you want. I would rather order their pizza than have frozen scallops any day, so I'm glad they do it that way. When you do have seafood you know its fresh and it's always good and well priced. The atmosphere is great, its always busy and just loud enough where you don't have to worry about disturbing the table next to you if you are there with a group or being overheard if you are on a date and want some privacy. I have mostly been on weekends, when you need to wait for a table but we just aim to arrive around 7:30 and the earlier dinner crowd is leaving and tables become available quickly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for any occasion and always bring friends and family there when they are in town to visit.

Really at 3.5 rating. In town for a conference my wife and I walked over to Faccia Luna. We sat in the back deck, which was outside and shaded on a beautiful summer day. As I've found in my trips to state college the service was warm and pleasant from start to finish. We split the 16" large pesto, tomato, potato pie. We definitely were pleased with the freshness of the ingredients and the crust was a good combination of crusty and chewy. My one critique was the pizza was oily, not greasy, but oily. By no means enough to make the pizza bad though. I would just simply get a different pizza if we go back or try out the pastas other yelpers have noted.

She says: Great brick-oven pizzas -- that's all we ever order. We've liked every single pizza we've ordered; the crust is baked just right, and the toppings are fresh. The atmosphere is very cozy, and you can get a reasonably priced dinner for two by splitting a large (if you are hungry / want leftovers) or medium pizza. He says: The best pizza I've had in PA, I would say. I've tried a bunch of places in Philly, including some pretty popular coal fired places and this is still considerably better. I have particularly fond memories of the Margherita and Faccia Luna (sausage, red pepper, & mushroom) pizzas.

Love the pizza, pasta, & the salads with the house dijon vinaigrette. Great place to eat. Parking lot can be frustrating when it's busy.
(5)
Karen S.
Quick seating, reliable food and generous portions are great when you're on the road for work and just need to eat after a long day. I can't say this is the highest-end food I've ever had but that's not why I go here - I want quick service, portions of tasty food that will fill me up at a reasonable price. For this reason Faccia Luna gets 4 stars. It doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. Mix & match your pasta with the available sauces (I enjoy the pink vodka sauce).

Tom W.
I was extremely surprised by this place. After not even hearing it for four years we finally went here on the recommendation of a friend. The fish the bring in for the weekend is amazing. We ended up ordering some of their fresh fish and a small pizza and both were some of the best in State College I have had yet. When considering the very reasonable prices I will have to be back to visit this place again soon.

Great pizza, atmosphere and beer selection. What else do you need except for more parking? This is a townie favorite for good reason.

Faccia Luna is best known for their brick-oven pizza's, and I highly recommend any of them. The pasta and salads are closer to a 3 star rating. But, again the pizza is top-notch.

I have only been to this establishment twice, and I wish this last trip was for a more cheerful occasion, but the food, nonetheless was amazing. This place has great pizzas, wonderful pastas, and delicious desserts. My aunt and uncle frequent this place, and I was very grateful to have been introduced to it on the last two trips made to State College. If for some reason you find yourself in State College, PA, stop by. You won't regret it.

I call this place O'Faccia Luna 'cuz their logo makes it look like that's how it's spelled, but anyway.... What a great Italian restaurant for pizza and pasta! This is my favorite pizza establishment in town. I've been here plenty of times and not once had a bad experience. If there is a wait, grab a drink from the bar. They have a pretty good selection of beer and those of you who like to drink liquor, they have a full bar. Start off with their house salad. It's fresh and with a lil' bit of oil and balsamic vinegar, it's orgasmic. (I'm just a huge fan of good balsamic. I tried to walk out with the bottle to take home 'cuz I couldn't find it at the local store and they caught me. I tried. LOL) Faccia Luna is well known for their brick oven pizza. If you are in the area and you haven't tried their pizza, yet, then you are missing out. A bit pricier, but its worth every penny. I love pasta and the fact that they make it from scratch, homemade, it makes it that much better. YUM! It's usually cooked al dente (unless asked otherwise, so I usually get mine cooked well done). All of their sauces are favorful so pick a different one each time to try them all. I especially love their chicken marsala dish, which they only serve the 1st half of the week. This is a great place to dine out any day of the week. It does get busier on the weekends.

I love smoked salmon and they have a great appetizer with large slices of smoked salmon draped over toasted baguette slices (is that a crostini?) topped with a small piece of mozarella and capers. Yum! The pizzas have been good and I was happy with my linguine with clams dish (garlicky, which I love). The service is good and it's got a great atmosphere, probably due to the pizza oven (Is it wood burning? Can't remember.) and dim lighting. There is a covered patio with heat lamps. This would be a good place to go for dates. Overall, an above average Italian restaurant. A nice alternative to the chain restaurants in town. The only thing that really sucks about this place is the dreaded parking! It shares a small parking lot with the motel. You can also try to get one of the few spaces in the lot on the corner in front of the office supply store. Not sure if it's totally legal but a good business neighbor wouldn't complain about that, would they??

While they have a pretty limited menu, Faccia Luna seems to pride itself on delivering quality food with fresh ingredients. Their brick oven pizzas are excellent, pastas delicious, and salads great -- always fresh and crisp. They also have very good special entrees on weekends. This is a true neighborhood restaurant -- smallish and cozy with excellent friendly service. They are also quite kid-friendly -- this is one of our favorite places to take our two young children. They also have a nice little bar area with a couple of flat screen tvs to watch the game. Finally, I absolutely love that there is no smoking inside the restaurant!

Went there for a sunday lunch and it was horrible. The waiter we had was terrible and complained the whole time. Pizza was soggy and messy. the other faccia luna 2 by the mall is so much better!

This is a brick oven pizzeria. The parking lot is pathetic, the waits are long, but it's worth every second of hassle. The pies are great. We had the Faccia Luna pie. It's thin crust with sweet italian sausage, and tomato. We paired that with a few ice cold yuenglings and experienced culinary heaven. I also asked them to bring bread out. It's fantastic stuff that smacks of middle eastern sesame bread. Unfortunately the oil at the table was bitter. It's no matter, though. It'd be like complaining abut the unpopped kernels in a great bag of popcorn. Service is fast and attentive. Ambience is low, but not terrible. This and the creamery make any stop to State College worthwhile.

My favorite pizza place in state college and a very good restaurant in a culinary anemic area. I have been here multiple times and have always had a great experience. The pizza is wood fired and the crust is very crispy. The sauce is chunky and there are plenty of toppings. All the makings of a very delicious pizza. The portions are very big so usually if I order a pasta or an entree, I will bring half of it home for another meal. Beer selection is very good and extensive.

We tried Faccia Luna for the first time and were pleasantly surprised! They have Stella on tap so things started off well. The Luna salad was loaded with toppings and was big enough to share, but could have use a little more lettuce. The reason we went was for the wood-fired pizza and it met my expectations. I am a pizza fanatic and I am always searching for the ultimate pie, I'm still searching, but the pizza at Faccia Luna was very good. The crust was light and nicely charred, but did not get overly crisp. We sampled the artichoke, basil, and tomato pizza and the Faccia Luna (sausage, sweet peppers, and mushrooms) pizza. Both pizzas were good, but the simplicity of the artichoke pizza beat out the other. The pizzas were even better heated up the next day!

Never had something that wasnt amazing. They cheese sticks are phenomenal as is the pasta. The pasta is homemade, at least the ones i have tried. I love their chicken alfredo. Their pizzas are fantastic as well. Overall a must if you are looking for italian food or are going to school at PSU.

This was a good pizza place in state college. The menu has more than just pizza, so it had something for everyone. We started with a brushcetta and a grilled portabello mushroom. Unfortunately the bruschetta was a little soggie, but that was the only down side of the night. I ordered a onion and pepper pizza which had very thinly sliced peppers which tasted great. Service was good and they are open pretty late!

One of these days, I swear I'll try the pasta. Yet another consistently good meal, and, like before, leftovers from a pizza piled with sweet ricotta, sausage, and roma tomatoes. I think we're starting to over-order on purpose--and why not, when the upgrade is only a couple of dollars?

My favorite restaurant in State College! Their pizza is to die for, pasta is delicious (raviolis and pasta with vodka sauce are my favorites) and I enjoy their Italian wedding soup, too. It's also very reasonably priced.

I had high expectation for this place after reading reviews. I guess my expectation was too high- The food was really A-OK. We had baked mozzarella fingers, margherita pizza and some kind of pasta with white wine. The mozzarella sticks were just like the ones from grocery stores...and I would expect wood oven pizza to be less oily. Maybe what we ordered were not their most strong menus. Also, I went to Faccia Luna on thursday night and had to wait 20min(which wouldn't have bothered me at all if the food and service met my expectation). When we finally got our seat, it was super hard to get attention of the server and the empty plates were just sitting on my table for-ever! Would I go back? Meh...not likely, at least I can get better service in Olive garden and it's closer to my place.

We've eaten at Faccia Luna at least once a week for many years. The pizza and pasta are consistently wonderful! The vodka sauce is our favorite. The homemade pasta is perfectly cooked al dente every time. The thin crust brick oven pizza is always tasty - piled with fresh ingredients. The only bad food we've eaten here is salad - sometimes it is great, other times it doesn't seem very fresh. One time there was so much brown lettuce in the salad we actually asked for new ones. The server said "There's always some brown lettuce" and walked away. Service is hit or miss. Sometimes the staff is friendly, sometimes they act like we're interrupting their day.

I've had a lot of pizza in many cities, and Faccia Luna has to be one of the best I've ever had, hands down. Their dinner salads, pizza, pastas and mixed drinks are top notch.

I had two pies of pizza with two of my awesome study buddies before our final in immuno and WOW this totally hit the spot!! We got it for take out and bought it back to campus and I really loved the fact that obviously it's not chain restaurant pizza but actual pizza that has fresh, non-greasy ingredients! definitely order a pizza if you get the chance!

We always make sure to stop here at least once whenever we visit our kids at State. We are VERY chossy about pizza and try to search out he best places in any town we visit. The pizza is terrific: wood fired, the pasta and salads are excellent as well and there is a great beer selection.
Faccia has really gone downhill. there are now SO MANY great pizza places in State College, why put CANNED tomatoes on your pizzas?? Talk about phoning it in :( We got a pizza with tomatoes (canned), sundried tomatoes (never tasted one bite that tasted even slightly like the rich flavor of sundried tomatoes) and mozzarella. Bland, a real disappointment. Our party also got a pizza with pepperoni (you can't mess that up) and italian sausage. While the pizza itself was bland and boring, I did love that the sausage was shaved, not sliced, so paper thin all over the pizza. That brought them to two stars, and nothing else. Lastly, we got an italian sub to take home. Picture a burnt, typical (nothing special) hoagie roll...yes, burnt. Very crunchy, so your mouth will feel this for a day or two, because the burnt roll will shred your mouth. Picture decent meats, but all are on the very bottom of the hoagie roll. The top is all lettuce and sliced tomato. Unless you can wrap your mouth around the whole thing, most bites are lettuce and burnt bread. Not impressed. I will stick with Brother's Pizza on College Ave (not the other two Brothers' in town...) and keep checking out the other local places. I won't be going back to Faccia.

We ate a lot of pizza during a week long stay in State College. The pizza here rivals anything else you'll eat in town (although this wasn't our favorite). Meanwhile, we came in with an appetite and ordered far more than we needed. Fortunately, it provided us a good barometer for the scope of entrees. One thing you'll notice is portions are large. The Italian is a strong average, but value is high simply because of the amount of food they slap on your plate. For example, dive into the chicken alfredo or chicken parm and you'll be set with dinner and lunch the next day. These meals aren't award winning by any means, but they sure fill you up and leave nothing to complain about. The Italian wedding soup that comes with your meal is what you'd expect. We also started with the Luna salad. We thought it was an actual salad, but didn't read the menu properly. It's more of an antipasto and tasted good. This is a solid place in town for dinner with an upbeat atmosphere (there's a few scattered TVs to watch games), good service and likely a place you'll return to. It's ideal for a date, family meal or large parties when in town for events.

I've been going to Faccia since I was little and it is the best pizza in State College. Wood-fired pizza is hard to find up here but Faccia's is dynamite. The rest of their menu is solid, but I would definitely get pizza while you're there. Good beer menu, good atmosphere and good service. Definitely a place I make sure to hit with my parents whenever they're in town!

I'm very critical of my pizza so don't take this to the heart! Overall flavor is up there, not your typical bland over cheesed chain pizza. Pepperoni is as tasty as it comes, cooks nicely and gets crisp just as I like it. I prefer blended provolone and mozzarella mixed with prov being more dominant. But the taste was not great but nowhere near bad, but that maybe tweaked by my wife ordering extra cheese. My biggest complaint, the bottom crust was not cooked properly! I believe that the pizza may have been left to sit in the same spot cooling the stone down. Leaving the center soft and lightly cooked, getting wet when put on the tray, but the outer crust was great!

I didnt think much of their pizza. Not a lot of flavor, but better than the last place I tried.

Came here with my entire family when we were in town for my brother's gradation. We had the garlic bread and the bruschetta for appetizers and I wasn't very impressed. Then the pizza came and it was DELICIOUS. As a New Yorker, I didn't have high expectations of the pizza in a small Pennsylvania town but I was blown away. We ordered the Marinara, the Genovese, and the Primavera. I love pesto so my favorite was the Genovese but the Marinara had a great taste that my entire family couldn't get enough of. The dough was light so you didn't feel uncomfortably full even after a couple of slices and the crust was good enough to eat! If I lived in the area, I would go back weekly. Highly recommend!

I had the eggplant parm which was extremely "eh" for the price. The portion was fairly small and didn't have much cheese on it. Come on, a good eggplant parm should be smothered in gooey mozzerella. It was served on a bed of garlic pasta that was equally "eh." Service was slightly above "eh" as was the salad. I guess I should have ordered the pizza...

Great wood fire pizza. But I was expecting something slightly more upscale with respect to the decor, which was borderline dive/diner/sports bar.

The pizza and the environment were fine. We came before students moved in so it wasn't too crowded. Great price and ok pizza

Some of the best pizza in State College. Don't come for the entrees, eat the pizza. In fact, come back and make sure you try all of their wood-fired oven pizza. It's got a unique flavor that you'll only get here. Casual date spot, but better for having pizza and beer with friends.

Amazing Pizza. Came on a Wednesday night at 7:30 and the place was hopping with a 20 minute wait. So we sat in the bar and had good service and the pizza came pretty quick. This is on par with some places I go in NYC.

It was on my list because a work friend said it was the best Italian food he ever had . The waitress said the Vodka sauce was the best sauce they had . I had that with the tort lunch special . It was tasty and I could tell it was homemade . The bread was super soft with a light toasting on it and lots of garlic butter :) I will say it was good but not the best I ever had for sure . If you are in twin and close go give it a try the staff is super friendly and you must try the Italian wedding soup. . Delish

Stopped into Faccia Luna with friends while passing through State College on our way from Virginia to Ohio. We'd had a lot of junky, sugary food during our vacation weekend, & we were ready for something heartier, a real meal. This little pizzeria didn't disappoint. We were seated right near the wood-fired oven, where the cooks were tossing homemade pizza dough. Always nice to see the process in the process! Our server was friendly & attentive, quick to refill our waters, & our tomato bruschetta appetizer came out almost immediately. Very fresh! For dinner, I ordered the 10" genovese - potato, pesto, fresh tomatoes, fresh basil - with added bacon. When it arrived with ham instead of bacon, & the server noticed it before I did, apologizing immediately & saying he'd take it back to have a new one made for me ASAP. I told him I didn't mind & ate the one he'd brought out, which turned out to be really delicious despite (& maybe because of!) the mistake. Doughy crust, blackened-but-not-burnt bottom, non-greasy topping, thin-cut potatoes, very fresh tomatoes... really delicious. On top of that, I thought the whole pie seemed bigger than 10"; at six large pieces, it was definitely enough food for three meals for me. I took more than half of it home, & it tasted just as good reheated as it did fresh. I wouldn't call it the best Italian food I've ever had, as others reviewers have, but it was damn tasty, & I would definitely go back if I lived close enough.

Ordered a 10" pizza. The #10 that took only seven minutes to cook which was nice. Plenty of toppings and the temperature was good. Just think $13 for the smallest pizza is a little steep. There was only one waitress working in the daytime when I went, she seemed a little annoyed I was ordering a take out and not eating in. I would definitely be back though, since it's very convient location. The inside was nice and warm, especially compared to the 20 degree weather outside!!

We were in town for a conference and decided to order take out. For brick oven pizza the pies were a bit underdone and the pepperoni was a disappointment. It really didnt have any taste. I ordered extra sauce and I received extra tomato chunks. Order was placed and completed in a very short period of time which was nice. Bar staff (where order was placed) were very nice and helpful. OK in a pinch, but could be improved.

The pizza here is good, but they don't quite understand how to make wood fired pizza. It's supposed to be crispy on the bottom. Instead it's just soggy and burnt on the bottom. Looks absolutely fantastic on top though. They really need to tweak their pizza cooking process. As far as quality, the pizza ingredients and construction is great. Service was friendly and quick, seating is ok but could be better, and parking is a no-go when they're bysy. Overall that makes thus place ok, but nothing special.

You could tell is a very different kind of pizza, if you like papa johns and pizza hut, probably this will be the closest retort to a genuine Italian pizza. The crab cake is one of my oldests son favorites. Nice prices.

There are numerous pizza options in State College, but only 3 of them ate good. This one has the quality if good and more interesting ingredients, variety and even gluten free options. Good for dining in and taking out. Other items on the menu are also good.

Summary: Excellent Italo-American Cuisine in need of a bigger parking lot. Positive: 1) Pizzas baked in a wood fire oven. 2) Traditional Italio-American options. 3) Perfect for Sunday brunch. 4) Outdoor seating. Negatives: 1) Needs a bigger parking lot. 2) Dirty silverware. We arrived at 3:42pm for a late lunch. Driving by the parking lot during normal dinner hours always forced us to eat elsewhere. Dedicated this time with having a meal here, we decided to have an late Saturday lunch. Upon entering the parking lot, we noticed half of the parking spaces were marked off for the motel next to the property. I'm sure Faccia Luna could do a good enough job packing spaces with customers on their own, but reducing the lot size by half does not help. We found a space and went in. We were immediately seated by our hostess. Several families were present, with one dining outdoors, but it didn't appear to be busy. The dining areas of the restaurant resemble an "L" shape with the kitchen front and center. On the far end was a chef pushing pizzas into a large wood burning oven. Placement of this oven was done for entertainment purposes, as it is in view for customers. The interior is mostly exposed brick. Large windows lined the walls giving a view of South Atherton street. The tables, chairs and booths were all made of wood. At 3:44 we received our drinks and placed our orders at 3:48. In between the time we ordered to the time our food arrived, I noticed my silverware was dirty (not a big deal) and a sign hanging on the wall stating it could seat 115 patrons. Several of the younger staff members were huddled around the register talking amongst themselves. I got the impression they were enjoying this slow moment before things picked up later that evening. Our food arrived at 4:02. My first impression of the plating was visually stunning and done by a professional. Our Margherita pizza had the perfect balance of basil, uncovered tomato sauce and cheese. Actual slices of cheese were used instead of shredded, which prevented that stringy, oily, goopy mess you get with a Papa-Domino-Hut home delivery pie we are all used to. The bottom of the pizza had that perfect char on the bottom and the crust was airy and not chewy. I ordered a bowl of Fettuccine with Neopolitan Sauce and Meatballs. The Fettuccine was served al dente, that delicate balance of cooked and slightly underdone. The sauce was very fresh and did not taste like it was packaged or came in a can. I remembered thinking I wished there were more meatballs, although I don't remember how many it actually did come with it. For two drinks, one 14" Margherita pizza, one bowl of Fettuccine with sauce and meatballs, the total was $37.81. This was a great meal and as long as it wasn't during peak dining hours, we wouldn't hesitate coming back.

Crowded Saturday night. Had to wait about 35 minutes to get a table, a little longer than Hostess guessed. We had a couple of the wood fired pizzas and a salad. Enjoyed both. The crust is thin and crisp and the sauce was good with some hints of italian spices.

Pizzas are simple. Vegetables are fresh. The crust is Italian genuine. The sauce is made the way it has to be. Visitors from other countries will be pleased.

Pretty good wood fire pizza joint. Oddly enough for a college town State College leaves a bit to be desired for pizza places. Faccia Luna uses pretty good ingredients, and also offers a decent selection of bottled beer. One of the main downsides is the lack of options for wood fired pizza as well as a very strange menu set up.. I had to ask about 3 questions just to make sense of the "Make your own Pizza" set up. After asking I found that it's way overpriced to make your own with less toppings than to buy one off the menu with more toppings that you may or may not want. Overall though I'd say this is a decent place to stop, and grab some pizza although you will pay a premium for the wood fire experience here.

Get out of town and try a few slices of wood fired brick oven pizza. There is a lot to choose from for all pizza fans. In addition to pizza the menu offers other dietary options that are fresh and equally worth trying. The restaurant atmosphere at night is lively and a bit tight, much like the parking. Don't let that be a reason to not go. My favorite pizzas are the Facia Luna & Carciofi. My wife's always enjoys the fresh stuffed chicken ravioli entree with vodka sauce. Kids love the Margherita pizza "with the kids sauce". No delivery but pickup and six packs to go. Have fun!

Great pizza, great vodka sauce, and great atmosphere. It's worth the wait if there is a line. The waitstaff and bartenders are great. Great for lunch and dinner!

These guys have the best pizza in town. Wood fired is the way to go. I always stop in for lunch for their pizza lunch special and it never disappoints! My only complaint is lack of parking when they are busy which seems to be often.

The vodka sauce was delicious! It was served with your choice of pasta a salad and garlic bread. To die for. Bruschetta app was also amazing! Can't wait to go back! My friends had the pizza and said it was also delicious I can't wait to try more from this amazing place

In late March, on a Wednesday night, I took a woman there on a dinner date. We got there around 7, so it was at or just after peak time for supper. Without a wait, we were able to get a spot for two. Although it was in the middle of the restaurant, the atmosphere was such that it was not problematic for having quiet conversation like couples have on dates. Our server was attentive to the extent she needed to be and was forbearing of our lack of attention to the task at hand (i.e., ordering and eating a meal). The poor lady had to come back to us three or four times to see what we wanted to eat because we were so engrossed in our conversation that we kept failing to decide what we wanted. But, I think she could tell we were on a date, so she went along with it. The food was excellent! We ordered two of the pizzas, which come in 10" (maybe 12" -- 'personal size') pies, to share between us. Because we found the idea of putting potatoes on a pizza a bit unconventional, we ordered the Genovese and had the pleasure of learning that potatoes on pizza can be quite good. We also ordered the Salamini Suprema, which is a pie that should only be ordered by one who really enjoys meat. Beer selection was decent and included a number of craft brews. (Actually, beer selection is one of the reasons why we selected this particular restaurant.) Pricing on that, I think, was typical by State College restaurant standards.

Pizza is nothing special, but the pasta - yum! Handmade and cooked perfectly every time. They have a variety of pastas and sauces that you can mix and match and the portions are pretty big. For appetizers - get the salmon bruschetta (w/ lox and capers!) On the weekends they have some great seafood specials - very fresh. My family and I enjoy coming here when I visit home!

We chose this resturant based on the yelp reviews. When we arrived for dinner the place was packed and there was no parking. We parked around the corner in a lot that belonged to another business that was closed for the evening. Though it was busy, service was decent. We chose bruchetta, garlic breadsticks and pizza (brick oven and gas oven). The the food was good and we loved the garlic breadsticks. I didn't give four stars since I've had better tradtional red pizza but my son loved the brick oven pizza.

Many of the reviews comment on the wood fired pizza, which is very good. But the pasta here is terrific--with vodka sauce (Wow!), or even the Marinara sauce (the best i have had). But the real headliner here is the seafood they serve on weekends. The sea bass is absolutely wonderfulful--consistently--and so are the scallops. While State College is not a mecca for good food, this place is by far the best in town at what it does, and would be an asset anywhere. Real bang for the buck. The only surprise is that they don't have a wine list. It is by the glass, which is ok and pretty pedestrian, but it would be better to be able to order a nice bottle. Oh well. We still are regulars.

Very real tasting pizza. Probably the most expensive pizza I've had but not the best tasting. It was still really good though. There was a half hour wait at 5pm on a Friday. There is no waiting room. Parking really is no joke. Just park at the office plus lot and walk over.

I wish that I had a Faccia Luna in my town. I love Italian food and it's great to go a good local Italian place. Originally we went there for the wood fired pizza, but everything on the menu sounded good and I wish I could have tried more dishes! We tried the Tomato Bruschetta which was good. But make sure to eat it quickly because the bread gets soggy. For the pasta, we tried the mushroom ravioli but we substituted the alfredo sauce for the vodka sauce. I don't remember my thoughts on the ravioli because I was so focused on the sauce! It was SO good! Yum, I'm craving that vodka sauce! The pizza was so fresh and delicious! It was more like 'gourmet' pizza than fast food pizzas like Pizza hut, etc (Not that I have anything against fast food pizza). For dessert, we tried the key lime pie. I was already stuffed from all the delicious food we had but I was told that I had to try the pie. It was definitely worth unbuttoning my pants! it was the perfect amount of sweetness. The only thing is that the parking lot is very small.

We had a veggie wood-fired pizza. the place was crowded and happening, we got our order in great time. fresh, tasty and with excellent service. we sat outdoors in a comfy covered patio. This is a top-shelf pizzeria with reasonable prices and friendly service. Check it out!

We ate at Faccia Luna for the first time on Friday night, and celebrated finally finding a great place to eat in State College. It was definitely one of the best meals we have had here. The menu had something for everyone. The entrees came with really delicious, large salads. Two of us had the Caesar and one had the house salad. For dinner, two of us had the homemade mushroom ravioli and one had seafood. All were great. We also got a mussels appetizer, which was delicious. The marinara sauce for the ravioli was filled with chunky tomatoes and was soooo good. And the key lime pie was, surprisingly, the best we've ever had. The service at the restaurant was excellent. Our waitress, Jenny, made the whole evening even better. She was friendly, helpful and attentive. We will definitely be returning!

I'm never impressed with their pizza. It's crisp and wood fired but that comes at a price; caked on flour and bits of char. I prefer the pasta. You get a salad and garlic bread. I recommend the Parmesan peppercorn dressing. I got the marinara sauce, and it was okay. My friend got the vodka sauce, and it was awesome. I will get it from now on. I think the prices are higher than the quality. But I did have a traumatizing time here before so I might just be jaded. (A fennel seed in their homemade sausage had a pointy needle side that embedded in my tonsil and took lots of time and blood to remove... You're welcome.) The ambiance and selection of food makes this a great place to gather old friends.

Was super excited to try here everyone raved about it. Inside wasn't very pretty or comfortable, wooded tables an booths, service was slow and there was hardly anyone there. The food was lovely had the grilled chicken sandwich bf had the hot sausage sandwich.

Moved to State College from the metro NYC area. Heard rave reviews about the pizza and decided to finally check it out. First of all, as soon as we walked in the rank odor was overwhelming. It smelled like damp, musty wood and just "not clean." I didn't want to stay... the rest of the group outvoted me. Everyone was "starving" and didn't want to try to find another restaurant. The hostess was very pleasant and seated us right away. The ambiance is ok... brick everywhere. The place still smelled. We ordered an appetizer, a brick oven pepperoni pie and a hot Italian hero. The appy was very bland - garlic breadsticks - and the side of sauce was overly spicy; the hero was not bad, although it was so small for costing $8.50. The pie was typical brick oven fare, charred in spots, it looked very appetizing. But the taste? Forget it. NO TASTE! The pepperoni were very good but the dough had no flavor, it was very bland. The cheese had absolutely no taste whatsoever. The sauce was overly spiced, and not in a good way. Overall, the prices were much too high for such low quality product. I will never go back. It was a huge disappointment. The fact that locals rave about the place indicates to me that they haven't had the experience of eating good food and think that this place serves "good food." It does not. It is tasteless. My idea of a good pizzeria is when you walk in you should smell PIZZA - the sauce, the crust baking... this place had off odors and did not smell clean.

Pretty Over-hyped in my opinion. Good pizzas, not great!

This is probably one of the best to the best restaurant in state college. Woodfire pizza and seafood are awesome. Hard to get a seat on a Friday or Saturday night.

Wow.....it seems these guys are losing it. The last 2 orders I have placed have been burned. On Saturday I ordered 2 gas oven pizza, Italian grinder and salad. Grinder and salad were fine. But for the second time in a row the pizza was BURNED solid. Black on bottom. Top looked fine but when we cut into it the bottoms were burnt and not a little dark but black. This is now twice in a row. You had to of known this when you put them in a box. This use to be our favorite now it may be crossed off the list.

Parking is crazy ... all of it seems reserved for "Rooms" ... whatever that is ... The solution, at least after normal business hours is to use the commercial lot next door to the left ... Both times that we went, Faccia Luna was packed ... long waits and crowds inside, including lines outside. We decided to order take out each time ... turning a 45-minute wait to be seated into a 25-minute wait for salad, pizza, and stromboli. Even a 45-minute wait would have been justified. The food here is delicious. The crust is not thick but not thin ... it's more doughy than our favorite New Haven pizza, but by no means is it deep dish. We favor thin and this was excellent, though not as heavily seasoned or oiled as we enjoy from New Haven, nor as crispy. The cheeses are ample and the sauce on the light side, though with chunks of tomato. Wonderful. The anchovy and the pepperoni are high quality ... very hearty slices of each are used ... there was no skimping on these key ingredients. The Luna Salad could be a meal in itself or serve as a side dish for two ... very hearty. The warmth of the service, the lively crowd and clientele, all would make this an enjoyable evening out with family or friends.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Their wood-fired pizzas are really tasty; they have a good beer menu as well which is perfect to go with the pizzas. I used to be a fan of their pizza at the Faccia Luna in Alexandria, VA and the one in State College is just as good.
(4)Sean O.
This place has the best pizza in State College, and it's not close. If you like pizza and are a fan of delicious flavor, dine here.
(4)Rodney S.
(5)Michael P.
(3)Heidi W.
Solid good slice of pizza that you'd expect from somewhere else. This place is truly a gem of State College. Say yes to Faccia Luna!
(5)Carol K.
(5)Joshua N.
(4)Porky P.
Faccia Luna used to be ok but my last few experiences have been average at best either for eat in or take out. I doubt that I will go back. Salads, not good ingredients, pizza, soggy with hardly any crust in the middle and burnt crust on the edges. Staff has issues too. You decide.
(2)Hazel J.
Cheap pizza Got the margherita pizza - good crust, not enough basil, too much cheese Ceasar salad sucked. It's ok. I think we would have to have a much better pizza next time to return.
(3)Mary Y.
(4)Matthew D.
over-rated place had a pizza for takeout and it wasn't anything special. State College is not a pizza town.
(2)Mac Daddy M.
Every time is go there, their parm chicken is not the best. The pasta tastes quite bland.
(2)Shane O.
(4)Susie H.
(4)Liz M.
Slammin brick oven pizza; pesto done right. Outside back porch is nice, weather permitting. Parking sucks.
(5)Alan L.
(4)Laine S.
(4)Katie P.
Quality.

(5)Elizabeth K.
I love this restaurant! It has great food! I love the steak with mushroom sauce. The pizza and pasta are also delicious. It's not too expensive. Overall, it is a great restaurant in State College.
(5)Sean M.
(3)Matt O.
The overall consistency in food warranted another update. Faccia Luna has been spot on with every meal I've had from there since July '11. The best gourmet pizza in State College, and all the other food is terrific as well. If you could visit only one restaurant in State College I would comfortably recommend Faccia Luna as the best.
(5)W C.
(5)D W.
(4)Guy F.
I've been here twice and both times it was pretty solid. I went there a third time but there was a long wait so we went somewhere else (it was like saturday night of some big weekend i forget). Its more expensive than your average pizza place but def more upscale. Overall I like it
(4)Rachel Z.
Had garlic basil spaghetti with vodka sauce & meatballs. Excellent! Dijon Vinaigrette salad dressing is great too. I also like the meatball grinder and the Chicken Pesto Pizza. A little pricey but the quality is good.
(5)Carolyn M.
(4)Ell T.
Faccia Luna has the most delicious pizza that I have had outside of Italy. The crust is perfect, the toppings are fresh and well chosen, and the beer selection is above average. They definitely get crowded, but if you can get a booth the atmosphere is cosy and enjoyable.
(5)Susan R.
Great pizza, sandwiches and dinners. Parking can be a bit crazy but you half to get there early. If you are visiting the State College Area Faccia Luna is a must!
(5)Eileen S.
(4)Ian L.
(4)Jenna B.
(5)Jeff O.
(5)Matt V.
Great food. Great for the family; coloring books for kids, etc... Great spot.
(5)Ashley J.
(5)Mike S.
When I have friends over to visit, Faccia Luna is the first place that comes to mind when it's time to go out to dinner. The staff are friendly, and the food is great!
(5)Thomas S.
Great food all around but their wood-fired pizza is second to none in State College. Only trouble sometimes is finding a parking spot on a busy night.
(5)Scott L.
(4)Derek M.
(4)Janet F.
(5)raquel s.
(4)Megan K.
(4)Jen M.
(3)Gamaliel S.
I visit once a week... when I don't I start going through withdraw... it's sad but the food is great. The vodka sauce is always perfect! NOTE: Don't be afraid to try out the special!! I did the other day and was pleasantly surprised!
(5)Jimmy K.
(3)Derek M.
(5)Drew E.
Really good restaurant! I ordered the mushroom ravioli with vodka sauce which was excellent. The key lime pie and chocolate mousse pie were also delicious. Casual atmosphere and good service. We will come again!
(4)Brian W.
(5)David G.
(5)Qian Y.
I was very pleased with the pizza and the freshness of the seafood for on the weekend specials. The environment is comfortable and quiet, and a good place for friends gathering and chatting.
(5)John C.
Like the girls that serve you. Food and beer not bad.
(4)Jon S.
(5)Caroline S.
YUM. Best pizza in State College. The salads are delicious too, especially the Caesar! The wine list is nothing impressive, but they do have some good beers. Sometimes there can be a long wait here - I have waited for an hour at most, BUT It is definitely worth the wait. Great service, too.
(5)mary a.
Was back in town this weekend and got to try Faccia Luna, for my artichoke and tomato pizza--every bit as delicious as I remembered it. Waitress was friendly and service was quick.
(4)Jackie T.
(4)Brian B.
(4)Sarah H.
Best pizza in State College... you can't go wrong with the Genovese - pesto and red potato. I was surprised by the potato but it gives a great crunch. The crust is by far the best crust you can get in town.
(4)Howard H.
(4)JoJo R.

(3)Benny Y.
(4)Lisa L.
Love the pizza, pasta, & the salads with the house dijon vinaigrette. Great place to eat. Parking lot can be frustrating when it's busy.
(5)Karen S.
(4)Tom W.
(5)Brian G.
Great pizza, atmosphere and beer selection. What else do you need except for more parking? This is a townie favorite for good reason.
(5)Emerson D.
Faccia Luna is best known for their brick-oven pizza's, and I highly recommend any of them. The pasta and salads are closer to a 3 star rating. But, again the pizza is top-notch.
(4)Mary R.
Always a good visit - pizzas made in front of you - if you are lucky to be near the hearth - great beer selection.
(4)Ashleigh C.
Homemade pasta, enough said !!!
(5)Catherine K.

(4)Mary L.
(4)Jack M.
(5)Kyle B.
Went there for a sunday lunch and it was horrible. The waiter we had was terrible and complained the whole time. Pizza was soggy and messy. the other faccia luna 2 by the mall is so much better!
(3)Zach T.
(5)Brent G.
(4)Craig F.
(4)Josh H.
(5)Steve W.
Great food with daily specials. You can get something quick or get a great meal.
(5)Gordon H.
(4)Rachel G.
(4)Amanda B.
My favorite restaurant in State College! Their pizza is to die for, pasta is delicious (raviolis and pasta with vodka sauce are my favorites) and I enjoy their Italian wedding soup, too. It's also very reasonably priced.
(5)Joonarhee L.
(3)Ann S.
(4)Justin E.
I've had a lot of pizza in many cities, and Faccia Luna has to be one of the best I've ever had, hands down. Their dinner salads, pizza, pastas and mixed drinks are top notch.
(5)Anjali M.
(4)Michelle H.
Great toppings, amazing crust. Also has a very good beer selection.
(4)Barry S.
We always make sure to stop here at least once whenever we visit our kids at State. We are VERY chossy about pizza and try to search out he best places in any town we visit. The pizza is terrific: wood fired, the pasta and salads are excellent as well and there is a great beer selection.
(4)Varun R.
best pizza in state college
(5)Steve S.
Hands down best pizza in state college. No other pizza shop could hold an argument. Ordered the Faccia Luna pizza my first time with the salmon bruschetta as an appetizer to share with my fiancé - both were phenomenal! Pizza was out of this world! Service was also great, waitress was very prompt, our glasses were never empty long. Cons: parking at this place sucks.
(5)Liltuscany M.
(2)Chris S.
(3)Meghan M.
(4)Aaron C.
(4)Scooter M.
I didnt think much of their pizza. Not a lot of flavor, but better than the last place I tried.
(3)Carmen E.
Great Great bread with butter!! Pizza was very good too. Will definitely go back when we are in State College PA
(4)Harika C.
(5)Andy S.
(2)Jennifer B.
Great wood fire pizza. But I was expecting something slightly more upscale with respect to the decor, which was borderline dive/diner/sports bar.
(4)Chris E.
The pizza and the environment were fine. We came before students moved in so it wasn't too crowded. Great price and ok pizza
(3)Chris D.
Some of the best pizza in State College. Don't come for the entrees, eat the pizza. In fact, come back and make sure you try all of their wood-fired oven pizza. It's got a unique flavor that you'll only get here. Casual date spot, but better for having pizza and beer with friends.
(4)Jen C.
Amazing Pizza. Came on a Wednesday night at 7:30 and the place was hopping with a 20 minute wait. So we sat in the bar and had good service and the pizza came pretty quick. This is on par with some places I go in NYC.
(5)Mishell C.

(4)Whit D.
(3)Kurt H.
(3)John S.
(3)Sa K.
You could tell is a very different kind of pizza, if you like papa johns and pizza hut, probably this will be the closest retort to a genuine Italian pizza. The crab cake is one of my oldests son favorites. Nice prices.
(4)Alexandra S.
There are numerous pizza options in State College, but only 3 of them ate good. This one has the quality if good and more interesting ingredients, variety and even gluten free options. Good for dining in and taking out. Other items on the menu are also good.
(4)J R.

I live in Texas where I have yet to find 1/2 way decent pizza so when I come back east it is always on my food bucket list --love this place the wood fired pizza is so yummy and they beer selection is not to shabby either I miss their pizza already
(5)DJ J.
Crowded Saturday night. Had to wait about 35 minutes to get a table, a little longer than Hostess guessed. We had a couple of the wood fired pizzas and a salad. Enjoyed both. The crust is thin and crisp and the sauce was good with some hints of italian spices.
(4)Liberty P.
Pizzas are simple. Vegetables are fresh. The crust is Italian genuine. The sauce is made the way it has to be. Visitors from other countries will be pleased.
(5)Scott B.
In town visiting. State College dining is spotty. Looking for something exciting and local--Yelp saves the day and leads us here! Really good draft Guinness, I had two with my pizza. Really nice pizza. The real deal. Wish I had some now!
(4)Mike T.
(3)Drew S.
Have fun!
(5)Andy D.
Great pizza, great vodka sauce, and great atmosphere. It's worth the wait if there is a line. The waitstaff and bartenders are great. Great for lunch and dinner!
(5)Anthony W.
These guys have the best pizza in town. Wood fired is the way to go. I always stop in for lunch for their pizza lunch special and it never disappoints! My only complaint is lack of parking when they are busy which seems to be often.
(5)Caitlin S.
The vodka sauce was delicious! It was served with your choice of pasta a salad and garlic bread. To die for. Bruschetta app was also amazing! Can't wait to go back! My friends had the pizza and said it was also delicious I can't wait to try more from this amazing place
(5)Danny B.
(4)Meg L.
(4)Julie N.
(3)Keith C.

Stopped at Faccia Luna yesterday while driving thru town. Friendly staff and fabulous food. We enjoyed everything from the salads to the Stromboli and pizza. Will definitely be eating here again.
